Car Warranty Calls & the Do Not Call List

1. Do Not Call List Violations

Several companies have been calling to solicit consumers for their warranty policies.

There are two problems with the calls:

  • Firstly, many homeowners have listed their names on the Do Not Call List;
  • Secondly, the policies and their solicitation of them appear to be misleading and deceptive.

2. Remedies for Unwarranted Calls

Consumers can be entitled to compensation for violations. In such cases, attorney's fees will be paid by the company or taken from the settlement.

3. Problems with Warranty Companies

Many companies have a large number of complaints. There are also a large number of exclusions. The warranty might not be honored if someone fails to have a required oil or transmission fluid change.

Some companies will pay a limited reimbursement or claim that the owner abused the vehicle. For example, if a car overheats, and the driver steers a mile to the nearest service station, the warranty company might claim the failure to stop invalidates coverage.

4. Upcoming TCPA and Robocalls Book

Mr. Gutman is completing a book on the legal aspects of the Do Not Call List and remedies for consumers victimized by repeated, unwanted calls.
