Cadillac Lyriq Headlight Problem

Posted by Howard Gutman | Mar 25, 2024 | 0 Comments

GM has acknowledged and addressed an issue affecting the 2023 and 2024 Cadillac Lyriq models, relating to the headlights drifting during driving.

Problem Description
: The headlights of affected Cadillac Lyriq units may change their aim while driving, drifting either too high or too low.  When the vehicle is first turned on, the headlights likely have the correct initial aim. The problem becomes evident while the crossover is in motion.

Fix: GM has issued a software update to address this issue. Dealerships are instructed to:

  • Check Lyriq units in their inventory for the problem.
  • Correct it if any vehicles are affected.
  • Provide the fix to customers who bring a Lyriq to the dealership.  The remedy involves reprogramming the Headlamp Control Module.

Initial Aim: Affected Lyriq units have a correct initial aim when the vehicle is turned on, but the problem becomes evident while driving.
Fix: GM has issued a service update to address this issue. The remedy involves reprogramming the Headlamp Control Module (RPO code TGE) so that the Headlight Level-Upper no longer malfunctions and drifts the headlights. Importantly, no parts are needed for this repair, as it is entirely a software fix.
Duration: The drifting headlight fix is available until the New Vehicle Limited Warranty period ends.

Other Updates: GM has also issued other fixes and updates for the Lyriq, including adjustments to the dashboard storage tray and software updates for onboard modules.

Lyriq Specs: The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is available in both RWD and AWD variants. The RWD version is powered by a single motor rated at 340 horsepower, while the AWD version features two electric motors with a combined output of 500 horsepower. The Lyriq uses Ultium battery and GM Ultium Drive motor technologies, offering a full-charge range of 314 miles (RWD) and 307 miles (AWD).
