What is neighbor spoofing?
Robocallers use neighbor spoofing, which displays a phone number similar to your own on your caller ID, to increase the likelihood that you will answer the call. To help combat neighbor spoofing, the FCC is urging the phone industry to adopt a robust caller ID authentication system.
How to Stop Spoofing
Ever see a convenient area where people are not supposed to park but do anywhere. Don’t worry, you can part without a problem, insiders say. What happens when cars get towed and people are looking at 150 towing fees and tickets, they stop parking in prohibited areas. Same with the Do Not Call List. The scofflaws tend to pay attention to legal fees to settlements and judgments and then keep those people off their lists.
If you received a spoofed call, you may be entitled to compensation under the Do Not Call Law, or TCPA.
