Consumer law involves many areas: federal statutes such as the consumer credit reporting act, state consumer laws such as the New Jersey used car lemon law, and  rights developed through court cases.  

WHAT TYPES OF CONSUMER CASES DO YOU HANDLE

Our primary work involves defective automobiles but we handle other types of consumer products.  Generally the claims should involve a relatively significant amount of money, at least $2,500.    A consumer claim for the loss of $40.00 would be handled in small claims court or perhaps through a class action neither of which we do.   Likewise, we only handle cases in New Jersey and New York.  We provide a free consulation regarding consumer claims. 

BACKGROUND

Prior to establishing his practice, Mr. Gutman was employed by one of the leading law firms in New Jersey and a prominent international law firm located in the Wall Street area. He has appeared on Good Day New Jersey been interviewed by NBC Nightly News and Newsday, and his cases have been profiled in the Star Ledger, Bureau of National Affairs Magazine, and New York Times.
